Colonel Phillip J. Raymond
Chief of Staff
Colonel Philip Raymond is a graduate of the College of William and Mary in Virginia where he commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 1994 within the Field Artillery. From 1995 to 1996 he served as Company Fire Support Officer for 2nd Battalion, 72nd Armor and 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiments and Battery Executive Officer in 1st Battalion, 15th Field Artillery, Camp Casey, Republic of Korea.
Upon return from overseas, COL Raymond spent the next two years in 1st Battalion, 41st Field Artillery, Fort Stewart, Georgia, where he served as Battalion Adjutant, Platoon Leader, Battery Executive Officer, and Battalion Operations Officer. From 1999 to 2003, he held numerous duties within 82nd Airborne Division Artillery. During this period, he commanded Battery B of 1st Battalion, 319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment and Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment.
Following professional military education, he returned to the 82nd Airborne Division to serve as the Chief of Plans, 319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment, later 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment; Fire Support Officer, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment with special duties as Plans and Operations Officer, Task Force Falcon; and Operations Officer, 2nd Battalion, 319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment.
From 2008 until 2010, COL Raymond served as the Aide de Camp to the Commander, U.S. Joint Forces Command and Supreme Allied Commander-Transformation. Upon release from duties he returned to the 82nd Airborne Division and assumed command of 2nd Battalion (Airborne), 321st Field Artillery Regiment.
Upon completion of Battalion Command, he assumed duties at the U.S. Army Forces Command as a Plans Chief. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island. His most recent assignment was command of the 2nd Infantry Division Artillery, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.
Colonel Raymond has combat experience in Iraq and Afghanistan, and overseas duty in the Republic of Korea and Egypt. He is married and has three children.
