Colonel Roh, Kyung Chan

COL Roh, Kyungchan graduated from Korea Military Academy (KMA) and was commissioned as an infantry officer in 1993.

In the forefront of DMZ, he completed his mission in ROK 3rd Infantry Division as a Platoon Leader followed by ROK 1st Special Forces Brigade Deputy Company Commander, He went back to KMA and served as a Tae Kwon Do instructor and completed Officer’s Advanced Course (OAC).

He reported for duty back to SWC from 1996 to 1999 where he took command of a Company in 11th Special Brigade, and in 2003 as a part of U.S. Alliance went over to Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan to participate in Operations Enduring Freedom.

Upon completion of his education in ROK Army College, he once again went abroad to serve as part of UN Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan from 2006 to 2007. He then reported for duty to become Assistant Defense Attache in ROK Embassy to U.S. for two years.

After taking command of a Battalion in 700 Commando Regiment, he went to ROK Joint Chiefs of Staff and Combined Forces Command to take various staff role and was promoted to Colonel. From 2016 to 2017 he served as a Regiment Commander in ROK 203 Infantry Regiment.

COL Roh is currently serving the role as Chief of Staff-ROK in U.S. 2nd Infantry Division / ROK-US Combined Division.

His major education includes Master’s Degree in International Studies received from Graduate School of International Studies in Yonsei University in 2002, and NATO Defense College Senior Course 128 in 2016.

COL Roh is married to his High School Sweetheart and has one son.
