CSM Michael Eyer enlisted in the United States Army in September 1984. Since that time, his assignments have included: 75th Ranger Regiment, Fort Benning, Ga.; E Co., 51st Infantry (Long Range Surveillance Unit), Wiesbaden, Germany; International Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol School, Weingarten, Germany; 3rd Ranger Battalion, Fort Benning, Ga.; 5th Battalion, 14th Infantry and 2nd Battalion, 5th Infantry, 25th Infantry Division, Schoefield Barracks, Hawaii. CSM Eyer served as first sergeant with A Co., 2nd Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C. and D Co. (Long Range Surveillance Leaders Course), 4th Ranger Training Battalion, Fort Benning, Ga. CSM Eyer served as the command sergeant major for the 4th Ranger Training Battalion from 2001 to 2002 and then assumed responsibilities as the operations sergeant major for 3rd Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, NC. CSM Eyer also served as command sergeant major of 2nd Brigade, 1st Armored Division, Baumholder, Germany. His most recent assignment was command sergeant major of the U.S. Army Combat Readiness and Safety Center.

CSM Eyer holds a degree in general studies from Central Texas College. His military education includes Airborne School, Ranger School, Pathfinder School, Military Freefall School, Jumpmaster and SERE. CSM Eyer has completed all Noncommissioned Officer Education System schools and is a graduate of Class 53, United States Army Sergeants Major Academy.

CSM Eyer’s military decorations and awards include the Legion of Merit (one oak leaf cluster), Bronze Star Medal (two oak leaf clusters), Meritorious Service Medal (three oak leaf clusters), Army Commendation Medal (four oak leaf clusters), Army Achievement Medal (four oak leaf clusters), Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Ranger Tab, Master Parachutist’s Badge, Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Pathfinder Torch and Military Freefall Badge. Foreign awards include the British, German, Argentinean and French Parachutist’s badges and the British General Service Medal (Northern Ireland). CSM Eyer is also a recipient of the Orders of Saint Maurice and Saint Barbara.

CSM Eyer is married and has a child.
