Mission

602nd ASB provides aviation and ground field maintenance, replenishment of all classes of supplies, and medical support for the CAB. On order, deploy to war in order to sustain the CAB during aviation operations.

History

The 602d Aviation Support Battalion has a long and proud heritage on the Korean peninsula supporting the 2d Infantry Division. It was originally constituted on 1 September 1977 in the Regular Army as Company C, 2d Aviation Battalion and then re-designated on 16 September 1988 as Company C, 2d Aviation Regiment. On 16 September 1999, the 602d ASB was activated at Camp Stanley in support of the three battalions in the 2d Aviation Brigade, 2d Infantry Division.

On 16 June, 2005 the battalion was reorganized as part of the Combat Aviation Brigade. The unit currently has maintenance support teams at Camp Eagle and K-16 Air Base, and as part of transformation moved to Camp Humphreys in July 2005. The ASB is the primary aviation logistics organization in the Aviation Unit of Employment. The battalion provides both aviation and ground field maintenance, replenishment of all supplies and medical support in order to sustain the brigade.
