Resilience is the ability to grow and thrive in the face of challenges and bounce back from adversity. It is built through a set of core competencies that enable mental toughness, optimal performance, strong leadership, and goal achievement.
Soldier Resiliency Training
Master Resilience Training (MRT) is a program that developed from Battle Mind Training. In 2009 the Army was working with University of Pennsylvania psychologists to develop resiliency experts in the military as part of Comprehensive Soldier Fitness (CSF), with the goal of having MRT experts in every company helping to monitor and develop the 5 components of CSF. All Soldiers will receive Level I and II and all E-5s and above will also receive Levels III and IV at the Warrior Readiness Center before reporting to their units.
CSF Program for Families and Spouse
The 2ID/RUCD Family Resilience Program offers a program that is designed to provide avenues for our spouses to embark on a journey of self-discovery in addition to mental and physical agility. The 2ID/RUCD Family Resilience Program affords spouses the opportunity to enhance thinking skills and coping strategies needed to take care of themselves and their Soldier. The Spouse Resilience Program is spearheaded by volunteer 2ID/RUCD spouses who are certified Master Resilience Trainers. These spouses understand the unique joys and challenges that accompany 2ID/RUCD Families residing in Korea, making our program unique to the entire Army.
2ID/RUCD is strong in part because of the support our Soldiers receive from their Families. The 2ID/RUCD Family Resilience Program enables Family members to actively manage various physical and psychological challenges in their personal lives, and continue to be the mainstay of support behind our Soldiers.

Five Dimensions of Strength
Global Assessment Tool
The Global Assessment Tool is a survey instrument used to assess the five dimensions of resiliency. Administrated online via AKO, it takes about 10 to 15 minutes to complete, and rapidly estimates an individual’s fitness in these dimensions of strength. All Soldiers are required to take this every quarter.
Comprehensive Resilience Modules
The Comprehensive Resilience Modules (CRM) educate and provide tools so that Soldiers and their Family members can develop their strength in the five dimensions: Physical, Emotional, Family, Social and Spiritual. Each Soldier must complete at least one CRM per quarter. CRMs are found on the same website as the GAT.
