COL Patrick Schuck is a native of Dallas, Texas. He grew up in Southeast Asia living in Indonesia and Thailand for 14 years before entering the United States Military Academy (USMA) and commissioning as a Second Lieutenant in the Aviation Branch.
His early assignments include serving as a Platoon Leader and Battalion Logistics Officer in 2-1 Aviation Regiment, Katterbach, Germany, during which he deployed to Kosovo. He subsequently commanded D Co, 1-214 Aviation Regiment, Mannheim, Germany. After earning a Master’s in Business Administration from The Wharton School, COL Schuck served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Leadership at USMA.
In 2011, COL Schuck deployed to Iraq in support of Operation New Dawn as a Stability Transition Team Deputy Team Chief and Garrison Operations Officer with 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division out of Fort Hood, Texas. He was then assigned to Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, where he served as an Aviation Support Company Commander, Battalion Executive Officer, and Battalion Operations Officer in 2-158 Assault Helicopter Battalion, 16th Combat Aviation Brigade. During this time, he deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Following his time at JBLM, he served as the Professor of Military Science at Wake Forest University.
COL Schuck’s command assignments include serving as Commander of the 2nd Assault Helicopter Battalion, 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division at K-16 Air Base in Seoul, Korea. He later assumed command of the 12th Combat Aviation Brigade in Ansbach, Germany. Between his battalion and brigade commands, he served as the Executive Assistant to the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) and Commander of US European Command (USEUCOM) in Mons, Belgium.
Following brigade command, COL Schuck served as the Deputy Director of the Headquarters Department of the Army Aviation Directorate (DAMO-AV, G-357) and the Chief of Force Development Aviation (FDV, G-8) at the Pentagon. Most recently, COL Schuck served as the Executive Officer, to the 26th Secretary of the Army, Honorable Daniel Driscoll.
In addition to his MBA from the University of Pennsylvania, COL Schuck has earned a Master of Aeronautical Sciences from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and a Master of Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College. His military education includes the Aviation Officer Basic Course, the Career Course, Intermediate Level Education and Senior Service College as well as Air Assault School, Airborne School, and the Maintenance Test Pilot Course.
COL Schuck has earned awards, decorations, and badges commensurate with his years of service and deployments to Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
COL Schuck is married to his wife of 26 years, Margaret, who is a certified middle and high school teacher. They have five children: Elizabeth (23), Jacob (23), Allison (21), Benjamin (19), and Brigid (16). Elizabeth and Jacob are Second Lieutenants currently serving in the United States Army.
