Equal Opportunity

Mission: The 2ID Equal Opportunity Program Management Office manages the Commanding General's program, in order to create and sustain effective units by eliminating discriminatory behaviors or practices that undermine teamwork, mutual respect, loyalty, and shared sacrifice of the men and women of America's Army.

Leaders set the standard for Soldiers and DA Civilians to follow, but Equal Opportunity is everyone's responsibility - not just Commanders, Command Sergeants Major, and Equal Opportunity Leaders and Advisors.

Leaders must know their Soldiers and assess whether everyone - peers, superiors, and subordinates alike - is being treated with dignity and respect on a daily basis. Discrimination on the basis of race, color, gender, national origin, religion, or sexual orientation will not be tolerated.

All personnel must take steps to prevent discriminatory speech and actions. A "joke" one day could easily escalate into far more egregious behavior in the future. Leaders must know their Soldiers and assess whether everyone-peers, superiors, and subordinates alike-is being treated with dignity and respect on a daily basis.

Personnel have two mechanisms for addressing equal opportunity complaints:

  1. a. Informal Complaints. Informal complaints are any complaint that is not submitted in writing. Personnel are encouraged to resolve concerns at the lowest possible level, through the direct approach (confronting the person), the indirect approach (in writing), or the third party approach (asking someone else to speak with the individual). The informal complaint process is often the most efficient and effective remedy.
  2. b. Formal Complaints. A formal complaint is one that a complainant files in writing and swears to the accuracy of the information. Formal complaints require specific command actions, usually involve an administrative investigation, and must be submitted within 60 days of the discriminatory incident.

Equal Opportunity concerns can be addressed by your supervisor, chain of command, Equal Opportunity Leader, Brigade Equal Opportunity Advisor, or by contacting the Division Equal Opportunity office at DSN 756-7343 , Bldg 6500
(Freeman Hall), Room 208, Camp Humphreys.
