Major General David Lesperance graduated from Portland State University in 1989 and was commissioned an Armor Officer. He served in a variety of operational and institutional assignments, including the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, United States Army Recruiting Command, 1st Cavalry Division, the National Training Center, 1st Special Forces Command, the Maneuver Center of Excellence and The Joint Staff.
Major General Lesperance has commanded at multiple levels throughout his career. He has participated in numerous operational deployments to the Middle East, Europe and the Republic of Korea. Prior to his arrival to the 2nd Infantry Division/ROK-U.S. Combined Division, Major General Lesperance served as the Commanding General of National Training Center and Fort Irwin.
Major General Lesperance’s awards include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.
Major General Lesperance and his wife Kelly have two adult children.
