Brigadier General Scott Woodward, a native of Batavia, New York was commissioned as an Armor Officer after graduating from the State University of New York at Brockport in 1994. He is a graduate of Armor Officer basic course, Aviation Officer advanced course, the Command and General Staff College, and the US Army War College. BG Woodward holds a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies from the Army War College.
BG Woodward has served in numerous leadership and staff positions from Tank Platoon Leader through Regimental Commander. His command experience includes Commander, A Company, 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment and Commander, E Troop, 9th Cavalry (Brigade Recon Troop), 3d Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, GA; Commander 4th Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas; and Commander, 11th U.S. Cavalry Regiment, the Blackhorse, Fort Irwin, California. His operational and combat deployments include Operation Joint Forge, Bosnia-Herzegovina; Operation Desert Spring, Kuwait; two deployments to Operation Iraqi Freedom, Iraq; and two deployments to Operation Inherent Resolve, Iraq and Syria.
Other assignments include the Mission Command Training Program, US Army Combined Arms Center, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas; Armor Colonels assignment officer, Senior Leader Development, Office of the Chief of Staff of the Army, Washington DC; Operations Officer, Task Force Lotus Forge, Vicenza, Italy; Operations Officer, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas; Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff G3/5/7, HQDA, Washington DC; Director of the Commander’s Initiatives Group, Operation Inherent Resolve, Iraq/Syria; and Executive Officer to the Commanding General of US Army Training and Doctrine Command, Fort Eustis, Virginia. BG Woodward most recently served as the Deputy Commanding General, Combined Arms Center - Training (CAC-T), Fort Leavenworth, Kansas from 2022 to 2024.
BG Woodward enjoys hiking, fishing, and spending time outdoors with his wife and two daughters.
