Colonel Si Young Park graduated from the Korea Military Academy and commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Infantry branch of the Republic of Korea Army in 1999. After completing Infantry Officers Basic Course, he started his career as a Platoon Leader of a maneuver battalion in the 52nd Infantry Division. 

Colonel Park has built his career at various echelons as an expert in joint and combined operations. He served as an operations officer (S3) and Executive Officer (XO) with United Nations Command Security Battalion - Joint Security Area (UNCB-JSA), Briefing Officer and Operation Order Officer of ROK-U.S. Combined Forces Command (CFC), Battalion Commander with 111th Mechanized Infantry Battalion 20th Division, Policy Plans Officer with the ROK Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the 118th Infantry Brigade Commander. 

He holds a Ph.D. in Military Security from the University of North Korean Studies and a master's degree in international relations from GSIS Seoul National University. He also completed the East Asia Foreign policy course at George Washington University and received a master's degree in National Strategy from the U.S. National Defense University, Washington D.C. 

Colonel Park's awards include the Spearhead Brigade Commendation of 2nd Operational Commander, U.S. Army Commendation Medal, and the Commendation from the JCS Commander. 

Colonel Park and his wife have two daughters.
