Colonel Dong Myoung Lee graduated from the Korean Military Academy and was commissioned in 2001 as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Infantry branch of the Republic of Korean Army, starting his military career as a Platoon Leader of the Commando 8th Corp. 
Colonel Lee has built his career at various echelons as an expert in Joint and combined operations. He served as a tactics Instructor at the Korea Infantry Academy, platoon leader of the United Nations Command Security Battalion - Joint Security Area(UNCSB-JSA), Civil-military Planning Officer of ROK-US Combined Forces Command, Battalion Commander at the 56th Infantry Regiment 22nd Division. 
His professional military education includes the Infantry Basic Officer’s Course, the Officer’s Advanced Course, and the Army College. He holds a Bachelor of International Relations from the Korea Military Academy and master's degree in military science from U.S. Army Command and Staff College. 
Colonel Dong Myoung, Lee’s awards include the Commendation from Joint Chief of Staff Commander, the Commendation from Army Chief of Staff and the Commendation from Minister of National Defense 
Colonel Lee is married and has a daughter.
