Colonel Moon, Han Ok

Colonel Moon, Han Ok graduated from Sookmyung Women’s University and was commissioned in 1997 as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Infantry branch of the Republic of Korea Army. After completing her Infantry Officers Basic Course, she was first assigned to the 3-102 Regiment of the 17th Infantry Division as a Platoon Leader.

Colonel Moon has built her career as an expert in Joint and Combined Operations in various fields. She served as PAO, the Spokesman‘s office at the ROK Ministry of Defense; Korean Language Instructor at the Army Intelligence School; Military Observer, United Nations Operation in Côte d'Ivoire; Strategy Analysis Officer, C5 of the ROK-US Combined Forces Command; Business Training at Samsung Electronics; Combined Coordination Group Planning Officer at the ROK Joint Chiefs of Staff; Commander of Recruit Training Battalion of 35th ID; and Military Diplomacy Planner, Policy Department of ROK Army Headquarters. Prior to her arrival to the 2nd Infantry Division / ROK-US Combined Division, she served as the Commander of the 26th Training Regiment at Korea Army Training Center and the Personnel Executive Officer at Personnel Verification Committee of Army HQ.

She holds a Bachelor of Political Studies from Sookmyung Women’s University, She obtained a master's degree in International Area Studies at Seoul National University. She also completed National Security Course at the Korean National Defense University. Colonel Moon, Han Ok’s awards include the Commendation of the ROK Army, the MND and the JCS.

Currently, Colonel Moon is serving as the Chief of Staff – ROK of the US 2nd Infantry Division / ROK-US Combined Division. She is married and has a daughter and a son.
